Mike resides in Glendale Heights, Illinois, since November 1993. Having started working at Portillo’s Hot Dogs in 2003, he wanted more than what he was making hourly. His junior year and senior year of high school, he became the president of a club known as Tech Squad. The purpose of Tech Squad was to work with the staff in being able to work with them and assist them with any technological needs they needed, short of troubleshooting. This was mostly being able to work with staff and teach them about different things, from software to hardware. During his senior year, he began working at his high school with the department chair of the business department, who was also had capabilities of maintaining the school’s website and was also the President of the Tech Squad club. At this time, outside of working at Portillo’s, being the “eye in the sky” for the football team and recording their games, and being a manager of the boy’s basketball team, he continued his Tech Squad duties.

Then came June 1, 2004 – high school graduation. He was offered to help out the tech office as a student helper before college started. While going to college and working at Portillo’s and still recording games for the football team, he continued to help out the tech office whenever he could, such as during Christmas break. March 2005 came around and he was offered an actual part time position by the district office of the high school district, to work and help out the tech office during the after school hours for a couple of hours, since the tech office was now short a technician, which happens to be the person Mike’s supervisor. The technician that was left ended up getting promoted to a district technician so there was no building technician. Going in for the interview for the building technician, it was hard to believe that he would get this position, but upon taking the proficiency test, he blew away other applicants on the proficiency test, but also because of the good rapport he has had with the staff and the assistant principal doing the interview and making the final decision. Upon receiving and accepting this offer, he quit Portillo’s.

He worked at Glenbard West for the next few years. Recording the football games was still something he did. He also volunteered to assist in coaching the freshmen boys basketball team during the winter sports season. He worked with the staff during the school day to troubleshoot and resolve issues, anything from computer hardware failure, to software, to network connectivity, to network laser printers, to network boxes. Pretty much anything that was a piece of technology outside of anything audio or visual. Most of his experience and learning came from these few years of working here. This was also a 12 month position so there was always something to do year round.

At the end of the 2008 school year that June, Mike left Glenbard West high school to go start working for a special education cooperative at the beginning of the new fiscal year of the school year. There, his official title was computer technician, but since he was the only technician, he did the work of a network administrator. There was much to learn and do here as well, being in a whole different role and mindset. Everything he learned from working at his high school was able to be applied here. He took what he knew and learned much more about servers and Exchange servers for email and Active Directory. After a near two years of being there, the position had to be eliminated at the end of the school fiscal year 2010, due to budget.

August 2010, Mike got hired to work at Bishop Technologies, Inc, out of Elgin, Illinois. It is no coincidence that everything he learned at the previous two jobs would help prepare him for his endeavors here, since the company specializes in email archiving and migrations. Working here has allowed him to meet the clients (the better word to use instead of customers – customers just means another dollar sign whereas clients mean a developing on-going relationship). Mike has worked with hundreds of clients from different industries, from law firms to health to accounting firms to insurance firms and even government organizations. Because of circumstances, this company has closed their doors as of November 3, 2017.

Outside of all this work, he still works at his high school, following the boys basketball team to home and away games doing stats. He has not limited himself to that, so in 2006, he has started his own Amway business. Through this endeavor with the Amway business team, he has learned and continues to learn from many successful business owners about business ownership. He continues to learn from these business owners who have impacted many lives as he continues to work his Amway business.
